COMMUNITY SUPPORT FROM CONSERVATION
Dombeya Game Reserve has several strategies to support our wider community through conservation:
We encourage and support research partnerships to benefit national and international scientific collaboration. Dombeya is eager to expand this area and supports several long-term research studies.
Dombeya dedicates 1% of the Reserve's operational budget to vulnerable families and/or environmental education. We currently support the "Grandmothers' Union", based out of nearby Luve, with food, clothing and hygiene supplies for elderly and child-headed homes in need.
Conservation begins with appreciation for nature. Over 2020, with Covid travel restrictions, our tourism became 100% dependent on local visitors- this is a wonderful new base for the growth of conservation, and we use tiered regional pricing to promote accessibility.
